I'm not sure if man-made global warming is real or not. Perhaps it's not. Perhaps we lack the evidence to say either way.
I have to admit, I wanted it to be true. Or at least, I wanted people to take it seriously. Doing so would have produced many beneficial things such as increased investment and consideration of alternative energy, more regulation of polluters, and a general increase in the push for responsibility in taking care of the planet. I realize pollution controls are expensive but does that really mean we shouldn't inact them? Cancer treatment is expensive too. What will be even more expensive is when we have polluted the world to the point where we can no longer survive.
Argue what you will about global warming, but no one can deny that spilling millions of tons of harmful carcinogenic toxic material into the air, the water, and the ground is bad for the earth and bad for people. It will come back to haunt us. I'm an advocate of doing something about it now instead of after it's too late.
