A thought

While posting in a thread about energy, I began thinking about a scenario.

Lets say, hypothetically, a technological advancement gives us the ability to power our cars with a Mr. Fusion device(from Back To The Future 2). We can power our cars with trash. We no longer need mass amounts of oil to make gasoline. What happens to the oil producing countries whose main export, and often the biggest of a limited number of resources, is no longer in demand?
